Mangrove Snake
Erythrolamprus cobella | Linnaeus, 1758

Characteristics: Small serpent measuring about 70cm in length. Its coloration is black on its back and head, with indefinite, light-colored stripes reaching its womb mixing with deep red.

Distribution: It is widely spread throughout Brazil, in the states of São Paulo, Amapá, Pará, Bahia, and Minas Gerais.

Habitat: Open to forest formations, mainly in riparian and gallery forest edges.

Habits: Terrestrial and semi-aquatic with a predominantly diurnal and crepuscular activity.

Diet: Tadpoles, frogs, toads, fish, and small rodents.

Breeding: Oviparous.

UFRA: Species spotted only once in Wetlands with Herbaceous Plants.
