Lisser Wilfred´s Mouse
Juliomys pictipes | Oosgod, 1933

Characteristics: This mouse's body length ranges from 28 to 31.5cm, and its tail 17 to 18.5cm. The coat is long and soft, and the dorsal region is yellowish-brown; the sides of the body are similar to the color of the belly, which is yellowish. Limbs are covered with slightly cinnamon-colored fur, and the skull is rounded.

Distribution: Abundant in Brazil.

Habitat: Atlantic Forest formations.

Habits: Terrestrial species.

Diet: Herbivorous, feeding on grains, fruits, and roots.

Breeding: The gestation lasts 25 to 26 days, and during the annual breeding period, a female may produce three litters, typically ranging between 4 and 7 offspring.

In the UFRA area: The species is considered rare in these farms, since it was only spotted once. Found only in native forests. Restricted spatial distribution.
