Muller´s Termite Frog

Characteristics: Medium-size species measuring up to 5.0cm in length. This species has a pointed snout, its belly is red and white, and its back copperish-brown with dark spots.

Distribution: In Brazil, it can be found from Maranhão to São Paulo.

Habitat: Open to woody formations, open areas of coastal salty marshlands on the Northern coast of Bahia and in scrublands.

Habits: Crepuscular, nocturnal, terrestrial, and aquatic. During most of the year they stay hidden under the ground, rendering it difficult to find them. They bury themselves in the ground during the day.

Diet: Small insects and arthropods.

Breeding: Oviparous.

UFRA: Species seen only once in the Native Forest environment.
