Characterization: Small species measuring about 15cm in length. Its upper side is brown, it has a whitish neck, two lighter stripes on its wing, and a yellowish belly.

Distribution: All regions of Brazil, except for the heavily forested areas of central Amazônia. Found also from Mexico to almost everywhere in South America.

Habitat: Open areas with trees and sparse shrubs, such surrounding barns, savannas, pastures, plantations and gardens, being favored by deforestation caused by the opening of agricultural areas.

Habits: Diurnal and aggressive species, showing nervousness through sudden movements of the wings. It has the habit of sleeping in groups or of seeking a more sheltered place to spend the night.

Diet: Carnivorous, mainly insectivorous.

Breeding: This bird lays 2 eggs in a nest that is carefully covered with lichens and built firmly on a branch.

In the UFRA area: This species of bird is frequent in the studied areas. It was spotted 42 times. The species was broadly distributed in the studied habitats, being seen in exotic forests, wetlands with herbaceous plants, wetlands with riparian forests, restored native forests, mixed forests in regeneration, native forests, drainage ditches, and forests in spontaneous regeneration.
