Characterization: Small to medium-sized species, measuring about 20cm long. Its head is whitish, and base of its tail, rump and upper tail coverts are white.

Distribution: Bolivia, Paraguay, and Brazil (mouth of the Amazon river to Rio Grande do Sul and Mato Grosso).

Habitat: Fields with trees and sparse shrubs, close to homes and farms, and in the outskirts of cities.

Habits: A diurnal, monogamous, and aggressive bird, it shows its nervousness with sudden movements of its wings. It sleeping in flocks or seeks a more sheltered place to spend the night.

Diet: Carnivorous, its diet consists of arthropods such as insects, spiders, etc.

Breeding: It lays 2 eggs in an open, bowl- or cup-shaped nest.

In the UFRA area: In the studies conducted in the São Francisco Sugarmill areas, this species was seen in the organic sugarcane crops, exotic woods, wetlands with herbaceous plants, in native forests, in drainage ditches, and in fields in spontaneous regeneration. It is considered little frequent, as it was spotted only 14 times.
