Characterization: Small species measuring about 15cm in length. The male's coloration is grayish, with a black head top and lighter belly. The female, meanwhile, is distinguished for her brown plumage, and both sexes have light spots on their wings.

Distribution: Mato Grosso, Rio de Janeiro, and from Espírito Santo to Rio Grande do Sul.

Habitat: Edge of the forest and tall, dense new vegetation areas, bamboo thickets, etc.

Habits: A diurnal species, this bird moves around predominantly by jumping, either in the branches or on the ground. It can be seen rummaging through branches and leaves.

Diet: Carnivorous, feeding on insects.

Breeding: This bird lays 2 eggs in a nest made in the shape of a deep half bowl and built on horizontal forks.

In the UFRA area: This bird, which was seen in the São Francisco Sugarmill areas, was infrequent. It was seen only 4 times. Its spatial distribution can be considered medium, as it was only seen in wetlands with herbaceous plants, in restored native forests, and in native forests.
