Characterization: Small species measuring about 14 cm in length. With a lightly streaked chest, the female is completely different. The dominant color is a strong orange, which is more yellow on the bird's belly. Wings and tail with white spots and a contrast to the male, but an unmarked head, except for a slightly gray area below the eyes.

Distribution: It occurs in the states of Bahia, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Piauí, Rondônia, São Paulo, Tocantins, and the Federal District.

Habitat: It occupies the upper portion of riparian forests, savannas, and dry forests.

Habits: Rarely descends below three meters from the ground. It's easier to hear them than to see them.

Diet: This bird hunts insects in the foliage, moving in small jumps or short flights within vegetation.

Breeding: After hatching, the hatchlings accompany the couple for some time.

In the UFRA area: In the studies carried out at UFRA areas, this species of bird had a restricted spatial distribution. It was only seen in mixed forests in regeneration or spontaneous forests and in native forests. It is considered rare because it was seen only three times.
