Characterization: Species measuring about 19cm in length, it has red wings and tail, and a light yellow iris. 

Distribution: It occurs in Bahia, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Goiás, São Paulo, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, and Argentina.

Habitat: It is found in forests on the edges of lakes and rivers or in Moriche palm plantations and gallery forests near the water.

Habits: This bird lives in pairs, often singing in the early hours from inside its nest.

Diet: It feeds on insects, both in the canopy of palm trees and in vegetation near the ground.

Breeding: It builds a pile of branches that it installs solidly on a base, such as the base of the Moriche palm tree leaf.

In the UFRA area: This species of bird was not spotted frequently and is considered rare, because it was only seen 4 times. It occurred most often in mixed forests in regeneration. It was also found in exotic forests, in wetlands with riparian forests, and in fields in spontaneous regeneration.
