Gray-headed Kite
Leptodon cayanensis | Latham, 1790

Characterization: This species measures 54 cm. It has a gray head, dark back, white interior parts, and the inner face of the tail and wings are barred black; immature individuals have white heads and lower wings and a black cap. 

Distribution: It occurs from Mexico to Argentina, forested regions of Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Rio Grande do Sul.

Habitat: Reforested area of Teresópolis, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Boracéia, and on the coast of São Paulo.
