Dark-billed Cuckoo

Characterization: Species measuring about 28.3 cm. A bird with a long tail, it is orangish on its ventral area, grayish-dark on its back, and its tail alternates black and white.

Distribution: It occurs from northern South America to Bolivia, Paraguay, and Argentina and throughout Brazil. 

Habitat: It stays hidden in thick woods and secondary forests, as well as in the middle stratum of riparian vegetation.

Habits: This bird is usually solitary, hidden in its habitat. It will occasionally land in more exposed locations, such as fences, wires and tangled vegetation growing in forest edges.

Breeding: The couple builds a small nest similar to a dove's nest. The eggs are uniformly green.

UFRA: This bird species was infrequent and is considered rare, as it was only seen 2 times. The habitats where this bird occurred most were wetlands with herbaceous plants and wetlands with riparian forests.
