Characterization: Species measuring about 12.2 cm. Brown, wings and tail with fine black cross bands, uniform brown back.

Distribution: Found in North and South Americas, from Canada to Argentina, Chile and throughout Brazil.

Habitat: It lives on the edges of forests, savanna, scrublands, swamps and fields in the high mountains of the Southeast. It can be found around houses, in gardens, and even flies into rooms.

Habits: Common in vegetation on river banks, clearings in regeneration and in gallery forests, and is more common near water.

Diet: It feeds on ordinary home insects.

Breeding: This bird nests similar to the wren, but builds on the water. It lays 2-3 white eggs dotted brown and lilac.

In the UFRA area: This bird is considered infrequent, having been found in the San Francisco Sugarmill farms in nearly all habitats.
