Bran-colored Flycatcher
Myiophobus fasciatus | Statius Muller, 1776

Characterization: Species measuring about 12,2cm in length, brown or red plumage, with an important feature of having a strongly striated chest.

Distribution: It occurs from Costa Rica to Argentina, and throughout Brazil.

Habitat: It inhabits open new vegetation areas at the edges of forests, savanna areas, scrublands, Kermes oak woods or fields with dense bushes.

Habits: It lands inside bushes and edge vegetation.. It flies quickly among the bushes and dives into the foliage disappearing from view.

Diet: It feeds on insects, and to catch them in flight the bird takes off from a point near the vegetation, flies quickly up and returns to the perch.

Breeding: Built with fibers, the nest is cup-shaped.
