What is the agricultural activity impact on the environment? How favorable is organic agriculture to biodiversity maintenance and development? How can we make out the meaning of biodiversity changes in time and space? How can we observe and follow up with biodiversity in the several harvest areas explored by Native?
Above all, agricultural environment monitoring requires a deep knowledge of land use and land cover. For such purpose, Native relied on the participation of the non-government organization Ecoforce - Research and Development, that mapped the land use and land cover based on satellite images and field works. A geographical information system was structured comprising the areas explored by Native and each part of territory, in terms of use and cover, was connected with an agricultural and environmental database. All this scientific work was carried out in fields by teams of specialized professionals with Master and Doctorate degrees in ecology and enviroment management from both University of Sao Paulo and universities abroad. Systematic campaigns of zooecological surveys allowed tree stands and fauna population to be inventoried, qualified and followed up in varied habitats, in both ecosystems and agricultural ecosystems, throughout the year seasons.
