The organic foods market is already a reality. The search for organic goods has been growing day by day all around the world. This market moves 40 billion dollars every year, with an average growth of 25% every year.
In Brazil, organic foods move around 250 millions of dollars annually. Between 50% and 70% of total Brazilian production is exported, the main products being: soybeans, coffee, sugar, cashew nuts, concentrated orange juice and palm oil. The percentage of food processors and agro-industries turned to organic products is still relatively small in Brazil (1.8%). This relation is 7% in France, 21% in The United Kingdom and 36% in The Nederlands.

In this scenario, Brazil is pointed as one of the biggest potential to organic production expansion in the world, since there are 90 millions of hectares suitable for agriculture, besides the possible migration from conventional to organic farms.
