We do two different types of biological control: direct and induced. The first one is performed by means of releasing millions of natural enemies to the pest in the fields, who will perform a natural control, without any environmental risk. São Francisco Mill has an entomologic laboratory where such natural enemies are raised and all phytosanitary activities are concentrated. The natural enemies’ releases are oriented by periodically performed detailed surveys over pest population.
The induced biological control is done by dynamically modifying the production system according to ecological balance trends between pest and its predators. A systematic monitoring is performed aiming to orientate such measures.
