Entre mai 2006 et avril 2007, Native a effectue un bilan des émissions de gaz a effet de serre (GES) de la filière biologique de l'Usine de Sao Francisco (UFRA). Cette évaluation a été réalisée selon le protocole GHG - modèle international pour mesurer les émissions - en considérant les effets de la culture de la canne et la production de sucre et d'alcool a l'usine. Compte-tenu qu'une partie de cette production est destinée a l'exportation, l'énergie nécessaire pour le transport de ces marchandises vers leur destination finale (USA, Europe, Japon) a également été prise en compte.

Les quantités d'émissions trouvées pour UFRA sont plus basses que les niveaux moyens d'émissions de l'industrie de la canne a sucre, du fait de ses méthodes de production biologiques. Comparée a la production de sucre a partir de la betterave en Europe ou au Japon, ou encore a la production de sucre a partir de la betterave ou du mais aux Etats-Unis, les écarts sont encore plus nets, car ces méthodes de production fonctionnent a partir d'énergies fossiles alors que UFRA utilise de l'énergie a base de bagasse de canne a sucre.

"CDM Cana Verde" Project


The Bioenergia Cogeradora S/A, company of the Balbo Group´s, developed with the support of the UNDP - United Nations Development Programme, MDL Project (Clean Development Mechanism), whose Project Design Document - PDD is being placed to the disposal for knowledge and commentaries.


This project aims at, in last instance, the emission of Certifyed of Reduced Emissions - CERs, having as base two units of co-generation of electric energy from bagasse of sugar sugar cane, located in the Plants Santo Antônio S/A and São Francisco S/A, both in the City of Sertãozinho, State of São Paulo.


The UNDP project´s that became possible the offered support the Bioenergia appeared of the intergovernamental process of Convention-Square of the United Nations on Climatic Changes - CQMC, in a proposal including intitled Capacity Building Support for a Clean Development Mechanism (CBS/CDM), jointly prepared for the Secretaryship of the CQMC and several agencies/programs of the United Nations, such as the PNUD, UNCTAD and UNIDO.


With the support of the United Nations Foundation - UNF, has still the World Business Council for Sustainable Development - WBCSD, as its implementador partner.


The participation of the Bioenergia in the related project of the Program of the United Nations for the Development happened in the context of the elaboration of the "Brazil Component", by means of which the PNUD aims at to inside get the sensitization and the enrollment of the private sector in the activities of MDL. In this case, the Bioenergia Cogeradora S/A was selected, that received technique assistance from PNUD in the development of the set of necessary procedures for the creation of a MDL project, in comerce base, to be implanted in compliance with the procedures defined in national level (Inter-ministerial Commission of Global Change of the Climate) and the International (Committee Executive of the MDL).


For this reason was contracted by the PNUD the trust technician Climate Change Network - CCN, which was in charge elaborating the Bioenergy MDL Project´s, whose documentation can below be had access through links, as well as images of the plants where the project will be implanted.
